About BACTA

What is BACTA?
BACTA was formed in 1974. With foundations laid in the late 19th Century, it now forms the largest Trade Association in the Gaming arena, and the only Association to represent the amusement industry in Great Britain. Currently it represents the interests of over 600 companies and over 1,000 individuals.

What does BACTA do?
BACTA is the voice of the British amusements industry representing all divisions from large manufacturers through to small seaside arcades. It aims to improve the image of the industry, encourage good practice, and create an optimal trading environment for all sectors. BACTA's role is to be the voice of the industry and aims to provide assistance and support in the following ways:
  • Lobbying national Government and independent organisations on new bills, changes in legislation and other matters
  • Produce guidelines and a Code of Practice to regulate procedures
  • Offer advice and information
  • Encourage members to be socially responsible for problem gambling and offer training programmes and support
  • Informing members about industry changes, events and news
  • Listen to the needs of the industry BACTA serves the interests of the industry and its members.
How is BACTA structured?
BACTA members split into 4 divisions:
  • Owners of Family Entertainment Centres
  • Machine Suppliers (operators)
  • Adult Gaming Centres
  • Manufacturers and Distributors
